Ventrilo Answer one: Installed without mic - I don't intend to get one either. However, I do understand the importance of voice communication. So, perhaps my binds for things like "north" "south" "incoming" "they're behind us" "sniper" "get in the car" and et cetera will be alright. It should be sufficient voice communication using a decent synthesizer. Anything's possible, if needed.

Your expectations of and from the Code Killers: Groups better than random players and a supplement to playing with decent players on my friends list.
In-game strengths / weaknesses: I suppose I'm better at driving than most people, especially with the Bushida Rapier. I also tend to grasp situations where our team should flank, blow a car or just attempt to work on inching an objective higher regardless of deaths, as opposed to fruitlessly attempting to bypass a heavily dug in camp. Weakness... I have a habit of not looking behind myself sometimes, but I'm working on that. Oh and uh, I'm not that great at sniping to be honest.
In-game preferred roles Primary and secondary (close combat, recon/sniper, Driver, etc): Well, I'm using the gold shotty right now, going for Pointman 15 so I can get the slotted auto shotty. Might use OCA Whisper sometimes, since it counts too. So, close combat, flanking, driving. And yeah.
Out of game strengths / skills which may be an addition to the Code Killers: Photoshop, forum software & skinning, html & et cetera, 3D modeling & texturing, and probably some other stuff.
Other comments: I just play APB for fun. So, I'm not too concerned with my rank and whatnot, though I do try to win. But, I'm not going to throw raging tantrums if things don't go well. I also can't talk. So if that's going to be a problem, I'd rather not waste either of our time. Well, more than writing and reading this will have been, anyways.

Hello. I saw in your application you stated that you do not intend to get a mic. You can join Code Killers without a mic, although you can not be made a full member. As well you will only have 2 weeks to get a mic come recruit status. With that being said. If you do not intend to get a mic. Code Killers is probably not the place for you, as that is one of our main rules and guide lines. I do not however have the final say in anything. I'll let Danish, Apex, or Jester read through your application and my response, and we'll go from there, if everything works out. I will give you a list of members to contact to get vouches from.

heres my /vouch.

If an officer either in game or on the boards can priv msg, i can explain her situation with the mic.  But i dont feel its proper to spread someones business around, unless they intend to do anything else with it.

Its a legitimate reason for no mic, I can only hope as a clan, exceptions can be made in circumstances such as we find ourselves here.

She is still a solid player either way, and one of the better outlooks that you will ever find in life.

It's okay squishi, I'll just go ahead and explain the situation directly.

I'm sorry, I suppose I was a little obscure. I physically can't speak, I'm mute.

So unless you guys would like to listen to ambient noises in my room, a mic wouldn't do either of us much good. But, I'm sure simply physically owning a mic and being unable to use it wouldn't quite fulfill the purpose of having said mic. It'd be a bit silly, really.

That's why I mentioned that I don't intend to get one.

Though as I said, a synthesized voice can do decently enough. I use a voice synthesizer by NeoSpeech called Julie. You can hear an example of what that sounds like here: http://www.neospeech.com/

It's the least awkward one I could find. With good word choice, it can sound fairly realistic. I use it with a program called Virtual Audio Cable along with my Winamp to tunnel pre-recorded Julie text-to-speech dialog with numpad shortcuts. I can also create new entries in only a few seconds. So, I can basically say "anything" I need to over my "mic," without actually needing a mic itself or the ability to actually speak.

It's worked sufficiently well in other competitive PvP games, though it may sound a little funny sometimes. It does get the point across rather well though. In combat, not a lot of talking is actually needed. It's mostly very short communications on ones status, the enemy's status, or certain tactics to employ. It would be inefficient to use long drawn out explanations in a combat situation to begin with. So, a synthesizer can perform fairly well.

I hope that's a bit more clear. I'll understand if it's a problem.

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to do your application. It helps us get to know you a little bit before we play. Here is a list of Commanders/Officers that you can add to you friends list in-game. Throw one a /w in-game and we'll get you started in a group where you can get your vouches. If you cannot get ahold of any officers or they are currently busy, you can play with members to get your vouches. If you get 2 vouches from either a member or officer, we can begin your evaluation process. You need 5 completed evaluations from 5 differnt Commanders/Offiers. After that... You are accepted as a Full Member

Never had a mute person apply before, but to reinforce what Danish said, as long as you -can- communicate, such as with the text-to-speech as you mentioned, then I see absolutely no problem whatsoever and I look forward to playing APB with you in the future.

Well, I was gonna get on but it looks like the servers are down.

Downtime started at 8:30pm EDT and is supposed to go for 4 hours. It's 10 EDT now, so 2.5 more hours.

Oh well. I have some movies to watch, so I guess I'll do that. May not be on for a couple hours after maintenance, but I should be on for a couple hours at least in the early AM, if anyone's on then.
